Job Summary:
As a Residential Direct Support Professional, you will be responsible for providing direct care and support to individuals in a residential setting. Your role will involve assisting with daily living activities, implementing personalized care plans, promoting independence, and ensuring a safe and supportive environment. This position requires a high level of compassion, patience, and commitment to enhancing the well-being of our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a residential setting.
- Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and household tasks.
- Implement individualized care plans and support strategies tailored to each client’s needs.
- Promote independence and community integration by encouraging participation in social and recreational activities.
- Administer medications and monitor clients’ health and well-being, reporting any changes or concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of clients’ progress, activities, and any incidents.
- Foster a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all clients and staff.
- Collaborate with other team members, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care and support.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Must be 19 years of age
- Previous experience in direct support, caregiving, or a similar role is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with disabilities.
- Ability to handle physical demands of the job, including lifting and assisting with mobility.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
- Comfortable providing physical assistance to individuals, including transferring and positioning.
- Ability to travel both in and out of city limits
Training/Certification:
- Medication Aide
- First Aid/CPR
